Why we love traveling to Orlando

Orlando, Florida is one of our favorite travel destinations! With literally unforgettable adventure for EVERY age, Orlando is the picture-perfect destination for couples and families (of all ages!). It is the theme park capital of the world. From the theme parks, to great dining, shopping, breweries and beautiful natural spaces, there is quite literally something for everyone here in the heart of Orlando. Check out our Orlando Florida Travel Guide below to start your planning today!

How to get there

While traveling from New Jersey, we departed from Newark International Airport (EWR) and arrived into Orlando International Airport (MCO). Orlando is quite a large airport. If you are staying in the Disney/Universal Resort and the many hotels they offer and planning on staying there for the entirety of your trip then a rental vehicle may not be for you. That’s something only you can decide! However, if you’re like us, and like to get out and about, I’d highly recommend renting a vehicle! So, immediately thereafter landing, we claim our bags and then go to the rental vehicles. We typically rent vehicles from Enterprise rent-a-car and the rentals are made within 2-3 months prior our travel to secure a vehicle. We typically pack light, so a mid-size SUV or sedan works great for my fiancé and I. If traveling with a group of four, we typically get that mid-size SUV or something a bit larger as we also need to bring all of our bags. The rental car is an excellent resource, gets us around, and we typically have the ability to check off all of everything we wanted to complete on our ‘travel bucket-list’ for every trip. Find our Orlando ‘travel bucket list’ in our Orlando Florida Travel Guide below! We love it!

Planning your Days

Prior to our trip I prefer to plan the week. You’ll find absolutely everything that we completed in Orlando here in our Orlando Florida Travel Guide! With so many options to choose from it was hard to decide. Whether it be visiting the parks or just kicking-back. We’ll typically decide all in advance, tickets are purchased in advance then I typically prefer to plan my days around the park days and areas of the park. If a park day is scheduled, we typically depart earlier than gate opens as there is typically traffic (in and out) of season to park. It takes approximately 30 minutes (or more) to park and then from the parking lot you take a trolley to the main gate. There are a few additional lines such as the security and then tickets prior to park entry. I recommend to see when the park opens and then kind of plan from there. We found that if we work our way to the back end of the park and then move our way forward, it’s one way to kind of ‘scoot around’ the lines.

If you’re not going to be spending a day at the park, there are so many options to choose from in Orlando. Whether that be a half-day excursion or simply just exploring the local places. Don’t know even where to begin? Check out the Orlando Florida Travel Guide! Here’s everything that we have completed in Orlando below.
